Now Accepting Reservations for the Society’s Annual Banquet

The Søren Kierkegaard Society is delighted to announce that reservations are now being accepted for our annual banquet held in conjunction with the American Academy of Religion meeting.

The banquet will be held on Friday, November 22, from 6pm to 9pm at The Prado Restaurant. The restaurant can be found at 1549 El Prado, San Diego, in the heart of Balboa Park, and we will convene in the Alhambra Room on the Second Floor.

The speaker will be Society President Sheridan Hough.

The cost is $50 for dinner; $65 for dinner and two hours of alcohol service.

Advance reservations are required before November 19.

When reserving please use the “Description” field to specify your choice of main dish.

The banquet menu is as follows:

Appetizer:

The Prado Pressed Salad

Baby Arugula, Strawberries, Mission Figs, Walnuts, Asiago Cheese with Sherry Shallot Vinaigrette, Balsamic

Main Dish:

Lemon and Kaffir Lime Marinated Chicken Breast

Asparagus, Roasted Marble Potatoes, Fried Capers, Lemon Beurre Rosé

OR

Grilled Salmon

Warm Potato Salad, Chorizo, Arugula, Shaved Red Onion, Capers, Blood Orange Gastrique

OR

Seasonal Vegetarian Risotto

Dessert:

Chocolate Mousse Cake

Chocolate Ganache, Feuilletine, Raspberry Sauce

 

Any member who has not paid dues for 2019 can add that amount to the cost of the banquet when reserving. You can use a credit card to pay via PayPal (you do not need an account).

Annual membership dues for the Kierkegaard Society are still being collected.

Regular Membership is: $20 US
Student Membership is: $15 US
Retiree Membership is: $10 US

Events

The Søren Kierkegaard Society sponsors scholarly events annually in conjunction with the American Philosophical Association and the American Academy of Religion.

The Society invites contributions for two sessions of the APA each year, one panel each year at the Eastern APA, with an additional panel that alternates between the Central and Pacific regional meetings.

History

The Søren Kierkegaard Society USA was founded in 1979 by Robert L. Perkins† with the purpose of fostering the study and discussion of Kierkegaard’s thought across all its dimensions and ramifications, including its sources and influence. The Society was organized more formally under the leadership of Sylvia Walsh in 1990 and upholds its mission to this day.
