Annual Søren Kierkegaard Society Banquet 2024

Information & Registration

All members of the Kierkegaard community are heartily invited to attend our annual SKS banquet in conjunction with the AAR Meeting in San Diego this year. Dr. Michael Strawser, Professor of Philosophy, University of Central Florida, will be offering a Presidential Address at the banquet this year entitled “Existential Commitments in Kierkegaard and Knausgaard: On Death, Faith, and Writing.”

This year’s banquet will take place at Union Kitchen & Tap Gaslamp in the Cask Room on Friday, November 22, 2024, from 4:30 – 9:00 pm. The event will begin with mingling, and Dr. Strawser’s talk will start at 5:30 PM and be followed by dinner. The banquet cost is $70 and will include the following:

Local Greens Salad

Mixed Greens, Cucumber, Tomatoes, Goat Cheese, Spiced Pecans, Sherry Shallot Vinaigrette (V)(GF)

Pre-Selected Entrées (Please choose one of the following with your registration):

1. Steak Frites: Marinated Wagyu Top Sirloin Prepared Medium, Arugula Fennel Salad, Seasoned Fries, Chimichurri
2. Pan Roasted Chicken: Potato Puree, Charred Broccolini, Pan Jus (GF)
3. Pan Seared Salmon: Swiss Chard, Harissa Roasted Vegetables, Lemon Gel, Apple Kale Slaw (GF)
4. Union Grain Bowl: Spinach, Turmeric Rice & Quinoa Mix, Roasted Beet Salad, Harissa Sweet Potato, Heirloom Cherry Tomato, Avocado, Pecans, Hemp Seed (GF) (VG)

Dessert: Flourless Chocolate Cake

Chocolate Ganache, Whipped Crème Fraiche, Cocoa Powder, Raspberries, Mint (GF)

Beverages

Two Beverage Tickets redeemable for a Well Level Cocktail OR Beer Brand (Domestic / Import / Draft / Bottled) OR Glass of House Wine

To register for this event please indicate your entrée choice via email to the Society’s Treasurer, Joseph Westfall, at westfallj@uhd.edu and submit payment of $70 using Paypal or a Credit Card (you do not need a PayPal account) below.
